Source: This unit is a tightly closed 500-gallon mixer in Conneaut plant. All bulk liquid fill lines are hard-piped, and the mixer shaft is sealed. Bulk filler addition is via closed hopper.  Low volume (13 -15 dscfm on average) venting only occurs when bulk materials are added (about half the average 77 min mix cycle). The paste had a monomer content of 15.79% wt styrene as run.

Method: VOC emission test, per protocol approved by Ohio EPA. Mixer was deemed to meet Method 204 and was assumed to capture 100% of emissions.

Test Description: The test was conducted 9/27/01, and consisted of three runs of the same resin formulation. Styrene was the only VOC emitted.

Emission Factor: 0.000287 lb VOC emitted / lb VOC available
Assuming an uncovered emission factor of 0.01, pollution prevention by installation of this cover reduced styrene emissions by 97.13%.
